PSHE
Intent
The PSHE curriculum at Widcombe Junior School aims to provide a broad and balanced education that supports pupils in their personal, social, and emotional development. Rooted in the Jigsaw PSHE programme, the curriculum fosters emotional literacy, resilience, and mental and physical well-being, ensuring pupils are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attributes necessary for life in modern society. Through engaging and age-appropriate learning experiences, pupils explore key themes such as relationships, health, diversity, and personal growth. The curriculum also promotes a strong sense of community, respect, and responsibility, aligning with the school’s values and contributing to the safeguarding and spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) development of all pupils.
We strongly believe in developing the ‘whole’ child and ensure that our curriculum goes beyond the core and foundation subjects. We ensure that pupils are equipped with not only the minimum statutory requirements of the PSHE and Relationships Education National Curriculum but are prepared for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.
We ensure our children have high aspirations, a belief in themselves and realise that anything is possible if they put their mind to it so that they can ‘Be the Best They Can Be!’
