Art
Intent:
We want our children to be creative and engaged, with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. They should be critical thinkers and develop a deeper understanding of the subject as well as art forms that have shaped history and culture.
A knowledge-rich art curriculum inspires children and enables them to develop practical skills and creativity alongside their knowledge of Art History. Our curriculum works to create confident, independent artists who can articulate and value their own creative journeys.
To ensure knowledge and skills are retained, we have carefully planned what we want the children to learn and when we want them to learn it. The knowledge and skills that are taught are progressive across the primary phase (in partnership with Widcombe Infant School) and it makes links and connections within and outside of the subject domain.
We have chosen key artistic concepts to derive our chosen knowledge from.
