Book Week Part 1
BackOn Monday, the whole school spent the day with the wonderful Catherine Barr, author of over 35 pictures books - all on the theme of conservation, rewilding and wildlife. Each Year Group was presented with the book they would be studying for the week - The History of Conservation (Year 3), Let’s Save the Okavango Delta (Year 4), Fourteen Wolves (Year 5) and The Tiger’s Tale (Year 6). And then Catherine led workshops with each year group, tailored to their book topic.
On Tuesday, continuing our all things bookish week, we welcomed some parent visitors to school, to talk to children about their work – Harriet Evans talked to Year 5 about being an author and Jane Harris talked to Year 3 and 4 about being a book publisher. The children loved hearing how authors work and how publishers go about putting books together. Thank you to Jane for the lovely books for the library - published by Little Tiger Books - they are in big demand! We also had a visit from Julia at Bathscapes, who talked about the work Bathscapes do to conserve our local environment. Year 3 enjoyed a Virtual Visit from Chester Zoo, to hear all about their conservation work in the Rainforests of the world.
On Wednesday, we held another of our hugely popular Story Swap Shops, where all the adults in the school read a story and the children chose which one they wanted to go and hear!
