Book Week Part 2
BackThank you to the brilliant parent visitors who came into school on Thursday. Damien Read talked to Years 3, 4 and 5 about Rewilding in Britain – the children loved hearing about the beavers who have made their home on the River Avon (400 years after becoming extinct in this country). And about a local rewilding project in Bristol at Belmont Estate - www.belmont.estate
Libby Sandbrook talked to Year 6 about the incredible work of conservation charity, Fauna & Flora International. And one of the National Trust Rangers, Sarah, came to talk to Years 3 and 4 about our local wildflower meadows, flood meadows and woodlands, all just a short walk from our school. The day finished with Year 6 enjoying a virtual visit from Chester Zoo, who told us all about their Preventing Extinction programme.
On Friday, we had a brilliant array of story book characters in school for the day. What amazing costumes! We were also lucky enough to have a visit from Zosia. Zosia rounded off the week by talking to the whole school about how we can help wildlife in gardens and our school grounds – and she was joined by the very knowledgeable Rob Randall, from Bath Natural History Society. He brought some wonderful photographs taken in our local area – of cormorants, red kites, orchids to name a few – and answered some brilliant questions. If you would like to find out more about the BNHS and wildlife in Bath, have a look at their website at www.bathnats.org.uk. Zosia told us about a Wildlife Garden day at Bath City Farm on March 23rd – find out more at www.bathcityfarm.org.uk
